About

National Parks

Crescent Head is protected by 60km of National Park –a delight for bush-walkers, nature lovers and bird watchers.

For the most stunning view of the coastline where you’ll spot the majestic Humpback whales during the migration season, and a serene place to watch the world go by, start from the Killick Creek Bridge and follow the path up to Little Nobby.

A popular walk for nature lovers and bird lovers alike is the rare rainforest of Big Hill.  If you look carefully, you might spot the threatened and well-camouflaged ground parrot who calls this part of the world home.

Beautiful Beaches

Killick Beach (sometimes called Front Beach) is accessed directly from the Park and has one of the longest point breaks in Australia.

Goolawah Beach is down a steep track on the southern side of the water tower for a left hand point break.

Delicate Beach is famous not only for surfing.  On a calm day, it offers excellent snorkeling and its choice of walking tracks over the headland make it a popular spot for walkers and runners.

Point Plomer Beach, 14km from Crescent Head, is a long, sandy beach with an excellent right hand wave and cult-like reputation.

Fishing

Anglers will go crazy for the array of creek, rock, ocean or beach fishing at Crescent Head.   The many shifting gutters along the coastline are popular with 4WD beach fishers who fish for tailor, bream, mulloway and whiting. Popper, silver trevally, luderick and rock cod are also around.

Other anglers prefer the shallow sand and rock flats lie off the north side of the Head.

A boat ramp and fish cleaning facilities are near the Park and Surf Club.

Markets

The Crescent Head Markets are held on the 3rd Sunday of the month at Crescent Head Reserve, from 8am.  This colourful market offers a variety of fresh local produce, jams and pickles, handmade and homemade goods, fishing gear, surf gear, clothing, jewelry and second hand wares.

Take A Drive

There are a number of scenic drives from Crescent Head Holiday Park.  Follow the picturesque Bellmore River to Gladstone for art galleries and gift shops and visit the town of Smithtown – the home of Milo!  To the east is Arakoon National Park and the historical Trial Bay Gaol at Laggers Point.  Not only does it date back to the 1880’s, but the location is one of the few places on the east coast of Australia where you can see the sun set over the water.
